Victoria Moreira


Victoria Moreira’s musical roots extend back four generations from a family of musicians from Montevideo, Uruguay. Having played the violin since the age of eight, she studied with Jorge Risi, Ludmilla Cavallaro and Miguel Szilagyi in Uruguay. She played with the Los Yuyos ensemble at the Escuela Universitaria de Musica in Montevideo for four years. In addition, her accomplishments include being appointed Concert Mistress of the Jose Artigas Youth Orchestra and performing with El Rejunte, which was the first prize winner of the Augustin Carlevaro Tango Competition in 2002. She is currently a member of and has toured internationally with the World Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales.

Since coming to the United States to further pursue her musical career, she has earned a Bachelor Degree in Music with Honors from the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University. At CCPA she was a student of Vadim Gluzman. She received a Masters in Violin Performance in 2009 from DePaul University where she studied with Ilya Kaler. Ms. Moreira has been a regular participant in many music festivals including Instrumenta Verano in Mexico and Music in the Mountains located in Durango, Colorado. Currently, she is earning an Artist Certificate at DePaul University and continuing her studies with Ilya Kaler.

For three consecutive years, Ms. Moreira has participated in the Chicago Latino Music Festival and the International Chicago Tango Fest where she has performed and recorded with artists such as Raul Jaurena and Carlos Marzan. She has performed at many renowned venues including the Chicago Cultural Center, Old Town School of Music, Ravinia, Harris Theater, WFMT Chicago, University of Louisiana, Teatro SODRE in Montevideo, The national Grand Theater in Beijing among others.

Ms. Moreira has a private studio and is faculty member of DePaul Community Music.
